PHECC First Aid Responder Course
Course Aims and Objectives:
This 3 Day First Aid Responder Course delivers the HSA recognised standard of First Aid to those who are interested in becoming a First Aider. It revises the knowledge, practical skills & understanding required to provide appropriate first-aid treatment
in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007; Part 7, Chapter 2: First Aid Training.

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Recognise and Assess the causes and effects of sudden illness and/or injury in a pre-hospital environment and call for emergency medical services.
- React to such pre-hospital emergencies
- Respond in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner to such emergencies utilising the First Aid Response skill set.
- Record and Report actions and interventions taken while responding to and managing such incidents and during handover to emergency medical services.
- Retain a professional and caring attitude in their performance as First Aid Responders.

Training Methods:
This course is classroom based, delivered by a combination of theory lessons, practical skills and practice sessions. The CFR part of the course takes about 4-5 hours and is DVD led. The assessment will be skills based and a multiple-choice
exam is designed to reinforce the knowledge and skills learnt on the course.
Who Should Attend?
This course is specifically designed for those staff or individuals with an interest in becoming a qualified First-Aider.

- Successful course participants will receive a First Aid Responder certificate. The certificate will expire after 2 years.
