Course Aim:

Our Manual Handling course provides learners with information & instruction on safe manual handling techniques which, if used correctly, may help prevent a back injury.

This manual handling training will ensure all participants are able to use the

8 principles of lifting safely:
  • Assess the task, area and load.

  • Broad stable base.

  • Bend the knees.

  • Keep back straight.

  • Palmar grip.

  • Arms close to trunk.

  • Object close to centre of gravity.

  • Move feet in direction of movement.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Define manual handling as per the General Application Regulations 2007
  • Be aware of health & safety legislation
  • Understand the basic anatomy of the musculoskeletal system
  • Use the 8 principles of safe lifting correctly
Course Programme:
  • Manual handling legislation – as it applies to the employer & employee
  • Dangers of using incorrect manual handling techniques
  • Anatomy of the spine & muscular system
  • Practice in safe manual handling of loads
Training Methods:Virtual/Online Manual Handling Course:

This Online Course is done as Virtual Training - live with our experienced trainer. The trainer allows space for discussion, questions and lots of interaction to ensure you get the best quality training experience and our unique video assessment ensures you will get proper certification approved by the HSA.

Group Manual Handling Course:

For companies and organizations with multiple people to be trained, we offer group rates for in-company training nationwide - this can also be done at your premises or at a venue local to you if preferred.

This is a great option to ensure all staff have consistent training and approach the job in a similar way. 

Site Specific Manual Handling Course

We offer a customized option for companies and organizations who have specific manual handling tasks for their employees. This type of course offers the most effective and legally protective training as it is specifically tailored to the manual tasks within the company. Ensuring your staff are properly trained for their work is the best way to prevent injury.

Who Should Attend?

Under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, is a legal requirement for ALL staff involved in manual handling operations to be trained in Manual Handling.

Assessment & Certification:

To receive certification for manual handling, all learners must successfully complete both the theory & practical components of the course.

Certificates are valid for three years from date of issue.

For online learning, assessment is done through a recorded video to ensure you can be certified. Instructions will be provided to those doing the course.
