Details

This hands-on course, led by international photographer Tristan Hutchinson, will guide students through the fundamentals of manual DSLR photography. It is ideal for beginners or those who want to move away from automatic shooting modes and gain full control of their digital SLR camera, allowing you to take the photographs and achieve the results you want, getting the best out of your camera.

By experimenting with various photographic styles such as landscape photography and street photography you will explore the key principles of photography (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field), lens choice, composition, metering modes and exposure. You will also learn about the various file types and the best file output options.
Each week there will be practical exercises packed with tips to help you master your new skills and interesting assignments to complete at home. The assignments will be discussed the following week, and you will receive individual feedback about your work. You will also have the opportunity to produce photographs that will be added to the Gallery of Photography’s very own online course gallery.

During the course ask Tristan about our One to One workshops that cover all you need to know about Photoshop Post Production.

What do you need to bring?
A DSLR camera: To get the most from this course we would advise that you will need access to a camera. If you have a DSLR camera, please bring it.
