The Retail Travel Agent Practice course is designed for those who want to be a travel agent or pursue a career in the travel industry. The Retail Travel Agent Practice course has been successfully meeting the demands of employers of this industry for over 15 years. The sound practical training has produced a high employment rate from this course each year.

The Galileo Computerised Reservation System is the most widely used computerised reservations system in travel agents around the country so crucial to the skillset for working in the travel industry. The Galileo reservation system enables travel agents to check availability and details of every scheduled flight in the world, encode and decode every airport, city, airline and equipment type in the world, sell seats, issue tickets and print out itineraries. The Galileo training course gets you a 'must-have' certification if you are looking for a career in the travel agent world!

Certificate in Galileo Computerised Reservation Systems

This part time course is delivered two evenings a week over 12 weeks. Students are provided with a workbook to help assist them with their learning but the course is predominately online with in-class support from the tutor

Course Content:

Travel Products During this unit students will understand the components of the travel & tourism industry, they will understand key travel terminology and identify with the use of maps, access points in relation to the tourism industry.  

Customer Service and Sales During this unit students will understand what customer service and the challenges is it brings to the industry. They will understand the importance of customer retention and the measurement of satisfaction. The unit will also focus on how to deliver excellence in customer service.  

Retail Travel Operations During this unit students will study the operations side of the travel agent industry, including cruising, car rental, ferry and railway services. The technology required for working in the industry, the Internet, insurance, finance and handling complaints.

Galileo subjects:

Galileo HELP, Best Buy, PNR data change and delete, PNR mandatory fields, PNR optional fields, building a complete PNR, car booking (CarMaster), changing segment status, classes of service, encode/decode cities, airports and airlines, fare quote, fares, flight availability, flight service information, hotel booking (RoomMaster), introduction to reducing/dividing PNRs, itinerary pricing, queues, rules, seat assignments, seat maps, sign-off, sign-on, storing a fare, tariff displays, ticketing, reading ETRs, voiding ETRs, Timatic and Timaticweb.
