ECCE with Montessori Teaching - Part Time Evening
Details
This option delivers the Montessori Teaching modules through part-time study and the early years modules through blended learning study. The Montessori modules are delivered through part-time study over 1 academic year and focus on the minor awards that deliver learning in the Montessori method and pedagogy. Classes are generally held one evening per week and are split between the practical Montessori approach and theory training, with time spent learning the theory and practising the Montessori presentation skills during each session.
Part 1 includes the following modules the Montessori Modules;
- Early Learning Environment
- Early Childhood Literacy and Numeracy
- Early Childhood Arts and Culture
- Work Experience
Part 2 includes the modules listed below, studied by blended learning to achieve the Early Years Care & Education major award.
- Child Development
- Early Childhood Curriculum
- Childhood Social, Legal and Health Issues
- Personal and Professional Development
There is a calendar of workshops and students have a choice of when they wish to attend. Full tutor support is available with programme managers also available to meet and support students to complete assignments.
Portobello Institute was established in 1981 and is built on the shoulders of some very wonderful and inspirational individuals. The Institute was originally set up by Delia Lyons and has been continuously advanced by her daughter Rebekah Lyons, another forward thinking and hard-working woman.
Delia’s legacy, vision and values continue to be part of everyday life at the college and are constant reminder through Rebekah’s want to constantly seek out new opportunity while ensuring that the ethos and quality first developed by her mother are retained.
Since 1993 we have been delivering beauty, make up and fashion courses at Portobello Institute, all fully accredited through awarding bodies ITEC and QQI.
