Tai Chi Open Workshop. Soong: The art of release
Details
Every student of Tai Chi Chuan has at some time been told by their teacher that they should relax or, be relaxed. Both in the body and in the mind. This term, ‘Relax’, comes from the Chinese concept of Fang Soong, more accurately translated as releasing into relaxation.
Once achieved within solo practice, Fang Soong can be explored within partner interaction. Physical tension and mental distraction are the, ‘noise’, that drown out the subtle signals our body, and our training partner, are sending us. One that noise is removed we can detect those signals and move in harmony with them. Harmony within ourselves and without.
We’ll spend the day breaking this concept down into manageable pieces, working simple partner-work exercises to deepen our understanding of their function and finally putting all those pieces together to experience the process, and result, for ourselves.
Exercises will explained and demonstrated with plenty of opportunities for questions and to feel the teacher performing the particular movement.
This workshop is open to all, beginners to advanced. Don’t be concerned if you feel you’re ‘not experienced enough’, if you have a desire to learn, you have everything you need already.
