Research has shown. Spending time together as a family is associated with better communication amongst family members. In addition, kids who spend time communicating with their parents tend to do better at school (Luster et al., 2004). Children whose fathers spend time with them doing activities tend to have better academic performance (Cooksey et al., 1996).
